Congratulations Graduates!

Please join us for the first-ever College of Sciences Master’s Commencement Ceremony. Following the Institute Ceremony, College of Sciences master’s graduates are invited to the Student Center for a more intimate ceremony where graduates will be recognized individually and receive their degrees from Susan Lozier, College of Sciences dean and Betsy Middleton and John Clark Sutherland Chair.

Commencement Speaker

Kristine Lacek

Informatics Health Scientist

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Lacek is a CDC bioinformatician serving the global health community. Specializing in Influenza and SARS-CoV-2 genomics, she has been an Emergency Response team member for COVID-19 and Influenza A H5N1. Her professional interests include public health data infrastructure, next-generation sequencing R&D, and supporting global-scale infectious disease informatics. A double Jacket, Lacek, graduated summa cum laude in 2019 with an accelerated B.S. in Biology and a minor in physiology. She graduated again in 2020 with her M.S. in Bioinformatics and began her career at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with an ORISE Fellowship. Lacek lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and fellow Georgia Tech graduate, Joshua.
