Students

Congratulations College of Sciences master’s graduates! Please review the information below for more information on your master’s graduation celebration:

BEFORE COMMENCEMENT

Regalia and Dress Code

All students who walk across the stage at the College of Sciences Master’s Commencement Ceremony must wear their Master’s Regalia. To learn more and order your regalia, please visit the Institute Commencement website. Graduates are encouraged to leave bags and other personal items at home. Please remember to bring all required regalia for the master’s graduation ceremony, as additional items like caps and hoods won’t be available for loan at the venue. Without the proper regalia, you may not be able to participate in the ceremony.

Student Recognition Slideshow

We will have a slideshow running prior to the ceremony. Students who wish to participate are encouraged to send an email to events@cos.gatech.edu with the following information:

  • A photo from your time at Georgia Tech (jpeg or png preferred)
  • Hometown or home country
  • Major
  • A quote thanking people who helped along the way. Example: “I’d like to thank my mom and dad for all their support; I wouldn’t be here without you.” Quote should be 30 words or less.

COMMENCEMENT DAY

Professional Photography

GradImages, the Institute’s official graduation photographer, will take portraits of the graduates as they walk across the stage and after they receive their diplomas. GradImages photographers will also be available to take photos of students with their guests after the ceremony. Images will be available to order through GradImages, which will email proofs to each graduate about a week after the ceremony.

Important Reminders

Students and their guests will be released to attend the College of Sciences Master’s commencement ceremony at the conclusion of the Institute ceremony, around 10 a.m. Please proceed directly to our ceremony after the Institute Ceremony ends. There will be lots of congestion on campus, and parking will be at a premium. See Venue and Parking for more information about where to park near the Student Center.

Upon arrival at the Walter G. Ehmer Theater (formerly Atlantic Theatre), Room 3208, Third Floor, John Lewis Student Center for the College of Sciences ceremony, students and guests will be directed to separate entrances.

Once you arrive and check in with the event staff:

  • Students will sit in designated student seating organized by School. Event staff will be available to direct you to the correct location.
  • After the ceremony begins, you will be guided to the stage by row, with no formal processional.
  • As you approach the stage, present your GradPass to the Events team before going on stage (tip: have a screenshot ready).
  • After you exit the stage, you will get photographed by GradImages before returning to your seat.
  • As a courtesy to your fellow graduates, please remain seated until the ceremony concludes and you are dismissed to the reception.
